Secure Stable Source Of Income Before Joining Film Industry' - Popular Yoruba Actor Advises Aspiring Actors

Popular Nollywood actor and founder of Lekan Olatunji Films Production, Lekan Olatunji, has advised aspiring actors and actresses, as well as those willing to join the film industry, to ensure they have a stable jobs capable of putting food on their table before venturing into Nollywood.

Speaking on Sunday during his 3-in-1 All White Party event held in Abeokuta—which featured the graduation of his students and the official launch of his new movie *Omi Agbon*—the director and film producer warned that many who rushed into the industry without a steady source of income often end up frustrated and misbehaving due to unmet financial expectations.

According to him, there is a common misconception that joining the movie industry automatically makes one a star and brings immediate wealth.

He emphasized that success in Nollywood is a gradual process, requiring time, patience, and dedication.

Olatunji also stressed the importance of humility, especially for those who enter the industry already financially buoyant.

He noted that newcomers must be willing to submit to those who were in the field before them to survive and thrive in the environment.

The Yoruba actor pointed out that the industry comprises professionals from various backgrounds—including lawyers, doctors, and others—who take on acting roles occasionally while relying on their main professions for sustenance.

Addressing the graduating students, he urged them to remain prayerful, stay connected with their mentors, and be intentional about finding their footing in the industry in order not to be forgotten.

The graduation ceremony, which marked the fourth edition, saw 21 students receive certificates for completing their training.

Speaking on behalf of the graduating class, the male best student expressed gratitude to God for the grace over his life and shared his hope of becoming a star in the future.

The event also featured the presentation of awards to distinguished individuals in recognition of their contributions. Among the awardees were Dr. Ifadare Ayedun, CEO of Agbotigayo Empire; Hon. Adniyi Adebolu Ahmed, popularly known as Shekere, Evwobo Stephen, a filmmaker; Dr. Yemi Akinwusi; and Mr. Abdul-Lateef Abdul-Akeem, CEO of I.D. Guest House, among others.
