POLO CLUB SEEKS COLLABORATION WITH OGUN MINISTRY

Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Sesan Fagbayi said the introduction of the Polo Game in the State was a welcome development which had great economic potential, including job creation and tourism development.

The Commissioner made this known while hosting representatives of the Abeokuta Polo Club led by its President, Dr. Adams Sheriff, at his office in Oke-Mosan, saying the Ministry was ready to incorporate the Polo Game into its tourism activities.

Hon. Fagbayi commended the executive of the Abeokuta Polo Club for synergising with the Ministry in its maiden edition of the club’s event in Ogun State.

“I am very appreciative of this laudable idea you are bringing to the State and this will be the biggest Polo Centre in the southwest. We as government will continue in our own capacity and give you necessary institutional support by including it into the tourism calendar, as well as making the club a tourist attraction of choice,” he said.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr. Yusuff Quudus, emphasised on the need to develop Hotels and Resorts around the Centre, saying it would attract more tourists and generate more revenue for the club, Ministry and the State at large.

In his reaction, the President, Abeokuta Polo Club hinted that the Maiden Edition tagged: “Culture and Tourism Polo Tournament”, would take place on May 3, 2025, adding that the executive intended to use the Lisabi festival to leverage the tourism calendar by introducing the game at the festival.
