IPERU HOLDS GRAND HOMECOMING RECEPTION FOR THE FIRST FEMALE ACCOUNTANT GENERAL OF THE FEDERATION, DR OLUWATOYIN MADEIN, ON MAY 2



Iperu Remo, a town in Ikenne Local Government, Ogun State, South West, Nigeria, will be agog on Friday, 2nd May, as it holds a grand homecoming reception for the First Female Accountant General of the Federation, Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwatoyin Sakirat MADEIN, who retired on friday, 7th March, 2025, upon attaining the age of 60 years, and after over 3 decades of meritorious career in the Federal Civil Service of Nigeria.


The reception which is being organised under the auspices of the Iperu Akesan Development Association is to celebrate the illustrious daughter and patriotic indigene of the town in recognition of her remarkable service to the nation as the Accountant General of the Federation, a position she diligently held since her appointment on the 18th of May 2023 by the immediate past president, His Excellency, Muhammad BUHARI.

Dr. MADEIN is also being celebrated in acknowledgement of her massive contributions to the development of her homeland, which has earned her a special place in the hearts of the people of the ancient town, Iperu. 


The Otunba Taiwo OYEBANJO-led Iperu Development Association had in March this year constituted a committee to organise a befitting and fit-for-purpose homecoming event to celebrate the accounting amazon, and quintessential civil servant.

The committee comprising eminent sons and daughters of Iperu Akesanland has Mr. Lanre SHITTU, Chairman, Suntrust Bank as the Chairman; while Mr. Armstrong Temitope AKINTUNDE, National President, Christ Apostolic Grammar School Old Students Association (CAGSOSA) is the Vice Chairman. 

Oloye Jide SOSAN, the Aro of Iperu; Dr. Oluremi RUNSEWE, the Global President of Akesan  Community Grammar School Old Students Association (ACOSA); Lion Dr. Folasade SHOTOMIDE, the District Governor, Lions International, District404A3; Prince Wale BAMA OYEKOYA, Treasurer, Iperu Akesan Development Association, Chairman Light Up Iperu Scheme Management Board, and Consultant on Agriculture to the Governor of Ogun State; and Comrade Rahman ODUNAYO, are members.

Otunba Wale ABDUL, Vice President of the Iperu Akesan Development Association and National President of the Mayfower School Old Students Association (MOSA), serves as the secretary to the committee


The committee has been working round the clock in making the grand reception a reference point for lovers of Iperu's growth and development, as it will be a wonderful opportunity to come together to celebrate excellence. 


Dignitaries expected to grace the occasion include the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo ABIODUN, CON, as Special Guest of Honour; Executive Chairman of Ikenne Local Government, Hon. Jamiu ASIMI, as Guest of Honour; the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Babatunde Adewale AJAYI (Torungbuwa II), as Royal Father of the Day; and Sir Kesington Adebukunola ADEBUTU, CON, the Balogun and Babaoba of Iperu, the Odole Oodua of the Source, and Chairman, Board of Trustees, Iperu Development Association, as the Father of the Day.


The event will also have in attendance, members of the Iperu Regency Council, and Iperu Council of Obas.


Born on March 7, 1965, in Iperu Remo, Ogun State, into the family of late Alhaji Surakat Oyebanjo SANNI (Olowo Oloye), former Seriki Adinni of Iperu, Dr. MADEIN's academic excellence and professional prowess paved the way for her historic appointment as the Accountant-General of the Federation.


Her retirement isn't just the end of an era, and the beginning of a new chapter, but it's a moment to reflect on a life dedicated to public service, marked by innovation, integrity, and steadfast commitment to excellence. 


Her illustrious career was characterized by her dedication to transparency, accountability, and probity, while her tenure as the Accountant-General of the Federation was marked by innovative reforms and landmark achievements, including the robust implementation and expansion of the Treasury Single Account (TSA), Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS), and Capacity Building and Human Capital Development (launched series of initiatives to develop the skills of civil servants).


As a highly respected professional, Dr. MADEIN is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants (ACCA), a member and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), and member of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN).


A very cerebral personality, her academic achievements include a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy from Ogun State Polytechnic (now Moshood Abiola Polytechnic), a master's degree in Business Administration from Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University), and a PhD in Management Finance from Walden University, Minnesota, USA.

MADEIN also bagged a Doctor of Business Administration (Honoris Causa) from the Commonwealth University.
