Hon. Alebiosu Embarks on Project Inspection Tour Across Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Decries Environmental Pollution, Illegal Parking, and Street Trading at Oke-Aje Market

The Executive Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Hon. Dare Alebiosu, alongside the Vice Chairman, Hon. Titi Adeyemi, and the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Oke Abiodun, Today conducted an extensive on-the-spot assessment of ongoing projects across various sectors of the local government.

The inspection began at Ojofa, where the Chairman and his team visited the notorious Zanga localty, widely known for illicit activities. Deeply concerned by the state of affairs, Hon. Alebiosu ordered a comprehensive clean-up and security reinforcement of the vicinity.

Several unauthorized dump sites, including Awokoya Road (behind TASUES), Ojofa Road (behind the Local Government Secretariat), and Oke-Aje Market Road, were identified for immediate and total evacuation of refuse. The Chairman expressed serious displeasure over the growing trend of indiscriminate dumping and unauthorized sales of goods—particularly at Oke-Aje Market Road on market days.

Responding to these concerns, Mrs. Ifeoma Alice, Chairperson of the Ijebu-Ode Local Government Market Board, stated that efforts have been ongoing to address the issue, although traders at Oke-Aje have remained largely non-compliant. She assured the Chairman that her office will implement refined strategies to curb the menace.

The inspection team also visited Ita-Ale Market, where they assessed infrastructural challenges facing traders. Issues such as dilapidated stores, obstructed drainage channels, and general environmental degradation were observed. Hon. Alebiosu admonished the market women to desist from indiscriminate refuse dumping and urged them to embrace a proactive approach to the maintenance of public facilities.

The tour extended to key health facilities including Sabo-Molode Health Centre, Oke-Aje Health Centre, and Apebi Health Centre, where the Chairman evaluated the progress of ongoing renovation and infrastructure upgrades. Health workers, visibly elated by the Chairman’s visit, lauded his administration’s interventions and requested additional support.

In response, Hon. Alebiosu expressed satisfaction with the level of work done so far and pledged further support, including the provision of essential items such as mattresses, power generators, and refrigerators for the safe storage of sensitive medications.

The inspection also covered Moslem Primary School, Sabo-Molode, where the renovation of three classroom blocks is underway. Hon. Alebiosu commended the quality and pace of work and reaffirmed his commitment to delivering more dividends of democracy to the good people of Ijebu-Ode Local Government.
