An NGO, Youth, Health and Leadership Network(YHNL) has launched a passionate call for urgent solutions to address rising concerns around child safety and parental challenges in Africa.
This was made known in a press conference to commemorate a 4 days event with the theme "Re-unite and Re-awakening the Family Value system as part of their ongoing "Heal Africa Project"
The founder of YHNL, Prince Ayodele Omolokun emphasized the critical need for comprehensive strategies to protect children from violence, exploitation, and neglect, while also offering support and guidance for parents who are navigating the complexities of modern-day child-rearing.
" In this current Era, the rate of divorce is on the increase and culminating into serious problem to the children adding that the family value system needs to be addressed.
The call for action comes in response to alarming statistics on child abuse, early marriage, and child labor across the continent." Prince Omolokun said.
The founder highlighted that, in many African communities, traditional practices and socio-economic hardships often hinder parents from providing the necessary protection and guidance for their children. With limited access to education, healthcare, and support networks, many parents are left struggling to meet the emotional, psychological, and physical needs of their children.
"At the heart of the "Heal Africa Project" is a push for greater collaboration between governments, civil society organizations, and communities to implement policies that protect children’s rights and provide essential resources for families." He said
The NGO believes that empowering parents through education on effective parenting and child development is equally important as creating safer environments for children to grow and thrive.
Also Speaking, the Co-founder of YHNL, Mrs Emmanuel Omolola omolokun said the Heal Africa Project calls for a multi-faceted approach that includes community-based support networks, media campaigns to raise awareness about child safety, and the involvement of local leaders to address cultural practices that may negatively impact child development.
This, according to the NGO, will help foster an environment where children are not only safe but are also nurtured to reach their full potential.
In her Word" Through the Heal Africa Project, YHNL aims to provide resources, workshops, and platforms for families and communities to learn how to better protect and support children. By focusing on the root causes of child safety concerns, they hope to reduce incidents of violence and exploitation while simultaneously strengthening families.
Highlight of the activities commemorate the "Heal Africa Project" include Novelty Match among tertiary institutions in Ijebu-ode, Visit to Ophanage and Grandfinale on May 1st at TASUED where scholars are invited to profer solution to parental issues facing our society..
