A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode is currently being screened to fill a diplomatic position.
It was gathered that the Federal Government is vetting the nominees, including a former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Femi Pedro to fill over 200 diplomatic roles.
Sources privy to the process said nominees are being invited individually to report to the Department of State Services (DSS) offices closest to them.
A source within the presidency told Punch that several nominees have been asked to provide details of their academic and work history for the screening process.
The source said, “They’re already doing security checks with DSS. When they have cleared security checks, we will release the list.
“Only those who have been cleared are announced. The process is ongoing. I know that we should have a list before the end of this month (April),” the source noted.
Another source who also pleaded anonymity confirmed that the screening process is done by location.
“The vetting is not done centrally. It is based on the location of the nominees. Nominees have been reached to provide personal history and information such as where they attended school, what appointments they have held, and the like. So, it is by location,” the source said.
