In a significant effort to enhance educational outcomes in Ogun State, 36 students from government secondary schools across the Remo area have received cash gifts from the Emperor Oyen Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), to enable them register for the June/July 2025 National Examination Council (NECO) examinations.
Speaking during the presentation of the sponsorship letters, at the Odofin of Soyindo Palace in Sagamu, Head of Academy and School Services, Sagamu Local Government Education Authority, Mrs. Morayo Rabiu, praised the NGO's contributions to the development of education in the State.
She emphasised the importance of such philanthropic initiatives, urging teachers and parents to continue to support students in their educational journey.
Delivering the cash gifts on behalf of the Emperor Oyen Foundation, the Odofin of Soyindo, Oba Samuel Gisanrin, encouraged other philanthropists in Remoland to contribute to the development of the local education sector.
In his remark, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Emperor Oyen Foundation, Mr. Sola Osilaru, highlighted the organisation's commitment to giving back to the community, explaining that the initiative not only aims to cover NECO registration fees but also monitor the students during their examinations, towards ensuring they achieve excellent results.
He disclosed plans to sponsor the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) fees for students who performed well on their NECO examinations.
"During the selection process, students who demonstrated potential but faced financial challenges were randomly selected from public secondary schools in Remoland. Beneficiaries included seven students from Remo North, 11 from Ikenne Local Government and 18 from Sagamu Local Government.
"The Emperor Oyen Foundation's generous gesture reflects a commitment to improving education and supporting young learners in Remoland, promising a brighter future for the community’s youth", he said.
In his contribution, President Sagamu Youth Association, Comrade Olugbega Lawal, advised the recipients to maximize the opportunity and strive towards academic excellence, emphasising the importance of being good ambassadors and inspiring others so that future collaborations with the foundation could continue.
Miss Rachel Olutimehin from Prof. Ogunlesi Model School in Likosi, expressed gratitude on behalf of other beneficiaries, promised to take full advantage of the opportunity, stating that the initiative would motivate them to excel in their studies.
