OGUN SPEAKER ASSURES COUNCILLORS OF SHARED KNOWLEDGE FOR IMPROVED LEGISLATIVE DUTIES

Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide has assured councillors from various wards in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Legislative Council of initiatives that would bring about shared knowledge on legislative business, that would be of benefit to them in the discharge of their duties as representatives of the grassroots at the Local Government level.

Rt. Hon. Elemide gave the assurance, while playing host to the councilors during a courtesy call on the State Assembly led by the House Leader, Hon. Mutairu Gbadamosi, saying there were enormous expectations from the legislative arm, as it is the only arm that represents the interest, yearnings and aspirations of the common man.

He noted that public officials who found themselves in the Legislature must be well equipped with a vast understanding of trends, practices, and dynamics of the Legislature; emphasising the importance of unity and collaboration in government institutions for a more vibrant democracy.

The Speaker lauded the councilors' proactive approach to addressing legislative challenges in the cosmopolitan Local Government Area like Ado-Odo/Ota, promising to provide the necessary support to improve relationships between the State Assembly and Local Government legislators across the State.

Earlier, Hon. Gbadamosi appreciated the leadership style of the Speaker, noting that, the Tenth Legislature had continued to deliver on the expectations of the common man through lawmaking, oversights, and quasi-judicial functions which had aided good governance.

The delegation later presented a proposal aimed at improving legislative harmony and efficiency between the State and Local Government Legislative Council, noting that the consideration of the proposal would ensure enhanced legislative activities.
