LG CHAIRMAN INAUGURATES MARKET BOARDS, UNVEILS DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

 


The Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Hon. Jubril Odulate, has inaugurated the newly constituted Market Boards for five key markets within the local government, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to structured market leadership and economic growth.


During the inauguration ceremony, at the council secretariat, Sagamu, Odulate urged the Board members to take on their responsibilities earnestly, by maintaining peace and order within the markets, as well as fostering strong relationships with traditional market leaders.


 “Our goal is to make Sagamu markets hubs of economic prosperity, where traders thrive and businesses flourish. With this new leadership structure, we expect significant improvements in market administration, sanitation, security and organisation”, he said.


He hinted on plans to appoint board members for Falawo and Itesiwaju Markets in Ogijo, in order to ensure that key commercial hubs in Sagamu have structured and effective leadership.


 The newly appointed chairpersons of the Market Boards include, Hon. Shina Olatunji for Sabo Market; Mr. Kehinde Adebayo for Awolowo Market; Mr.  Oluwole Awokoya for Oja Oba; Mrs. Kemi Adebisi for Alaba International Market, Ogijo and Mrs. Yemisi Osho for Lukosi Market.


Odulate also unveiled several groundbreaking development projects, which according to him would give Sagamu a facelift. These include, the construction of an Information Technology (IT) Centre, to enhance digital literacy and innovation; conversion of a section of the Town Hall into a Job Centre, to provide employment opportunities by connecting job seekers with local industries.


Other projects were the mordernisation of the Legislative Hall to meet contemporary standards and the reconstruction of Sode Road in Sabo, to boost the economy of the area.
