A sum of N13.1 billion has been budgeted to be expended by Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area of Ogun State for the year 2025, to maintain fiscal viability and ensure prompt delivery of dividends of democracy.
The Local Government Chairman, Hon. Dare Alebiosu, who presented the budget proposal tagged, "Budget of Progress and People-Centered Development", before the Legislative Council at ltoro, Ijebu-Ode, explained that the budget was designed to achieve the objectives of the Council’s development plan, including Infrastructural Development, Education and Youth Empowerment, Healthcare and Social Welfare, Agriculture and Economic Growth as well as Environmental Sustainability.
Hon. Alebiosu disclosed that the proposed budget would be funded through Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), which would be done through Innovative and transparent mechanisms.
The Council Boss said his administration would continue to lay a solid foundation for the local government, especially at the crucial moment of his administration, promising to strive hard to improve the living standard of the citizenry.
Speaking, Leader of the House, Hon. Clement Adenaike, commended the Chairman's developmental efforts, saying the legislative Council would ensure that the budget receives accelerated consideration and speedy passage in the interest of the people.
Hon. Adenaike informed that the House would follow necessary procedures, in line with the International Public Sector Accounting Standard (IPSAS), to make the Local Government Area become the best among equals.
