Again, IREYPO Youth Drum Support For Ijebu-Remo State Creation

- We're For Unity, Says Convener

The Ijebu-Remo Youth Progressive Organisation (IREYPO) has once again commended the efforts of all Ijebu and Remo royal fathers for their steadfast commitment, relentless advocacy, and leadership in championing the creation of a new state from the present Ogun State.

In a statement, the group reaffirmed that every necessary effort must be made to achieve this shared goal. They emphasized that all leaders within the Ijebu-Remo zone should remain united in their pursuit and avoid any divisive moves that could hinder the realization of this long-standing aspiration.

Speaking during an interactive session with journalists on Wednesday at Eskay Hotel, Sagamu, the convener of IREYPO, Akogun Jamiu Alabi Olododo, reiterated that the organisation stands firmly for unity and fully supports the aspirations of Ijebu and Remo monarchs and leaders advocating for the new state’s creation.

Olododo further stated that IREYPO is deeply committed to fostering unity among the sons and daughters of Ijebu and Remo, ensuring a strong foundation for future generations, particularly in the ongoing movement for state creation.

"Over the years, we have witnessed multiple attempts to achieve this goal, and as this marks the fourth significant effort, one key lesson stands out: unity is paramount. The success of this movement depends on our ability to speak with one voice, transcending individual and sectional interests."

He highlighted the need for deeper involvement across the 33 villages of Remoland and 66 villages of Ijebuland, emphasizing that IREYPO represents both Ijebu and Remo indigenes. However, rather than focusing on numbers, he stressed the importance of selecting key leaders who genuinely represent the collective interests of their respective communities.

According to him, "There have been inquiries about integrating other youth platforms, particularly the Sagamu Youth Forum (Sagamuites), to prevent any perceived division. However, we emphasize that there is no conflict each group is advocating for the progress of its respective domain.

"While the Sagamu Youth Forum champions the interests of Remo youths, IREYPO remains dedicated to the unity of both Ijebu and Remo, ensuring that our collective voice remains strong in this cause."

He also commended the recent press conference held under the Sagamu Youth Forum, describing it as a significant step that aligns with the shared vision for progress. He noted that every stakeholder is contributing in their own capacity and that these collective efforts will further propel the movement forward.

In the same vein, Dr. Oluseyi Adebanjo, speaking at the gathering, reiterated that IREYPO’s core mission is to build bridges, foster unity, and ensure that the aspirations of both Ijebu and Remo are realised.

"The participation of the youth in this ongoing agitation is crucial to securing the interests of future generations and demonstrating the active role young people must play in shaping our collective future," he stated.
