Ogun State Embarks on Massive Road Construction to Ensure Equitable Development



The Ogun State Government has intensified efforts to enhance infrastructure across the state through the simultaneous construction and rehabilitation of major roads. This initiative aligns with Governor Dapo Abiodun’s promise to ensure that no part of the state is left behind in his administration’s developmental agenda.


 During an inspection of ongoing projects, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, emphasized the government’s commitment to equitable development. He reiterated that Governor Abiodun is fulfilling his pledge not to concentrate infrastructural development in a few areas while neglecting others.


> “Governor Dapo Abiodun is a man of his words. He assured the people of Ogun State that development would be spread across all regions, and we are seeing that commitment materialize through these projects,” Akinsanya stated. 


The commissioner highlighted several ongoing road projects aimed at improving connectivity, easing transportation, and stimulating economic activities in both urban and rural areas. Some of these projects include:


Ongoing asphating of Saje junction- Miliki -  Elega junction , Abeokuta – A crucial route linking communities in the state capital.


Oworo - Ogogbo - Igbeba Road, Ijebu Ode – Enhancing road access for residents and businesses.


Toyin-Giwa Hercules Street in Ifo Local Government area & Igbeba Talbort Yidi Road, Ijebu Ode – Supporting commercial activities in Ijebu Ode.


Awomosu Agbato Drive, Ogere – Improving road networks within the town.


Afon Palace Road – Boosting transportation in the Afon community.


Agbara - Lusada - Atan Road – A key industrial route supporting major economic hubs.


Reconstruction of Bible College Road, Ota – Addressing road challenges in the Ota axis.


Reconstruction of Lantoro - Okeyidi Road, Abeokuta – Enhancing road infrastructure in the state capital.


Laderin - Wole Soyinka Train Station Road, Abeokuta – Ensuring seamless access to the railway station.


Reconstruction of Alagbole - Ajuwon Road – Easing transportation for residents in the border areas.


Akute - Denro - Ishasi Road – Enhancing road networks in the Akute corridor.


Rehabilitation of Alhaji Kosoko Street, Ifo Local Government – Improving local access roads.


Engr. Akinsanya revealed that these road projects will significantly improve transportation, reduce travel time, and lower vehicle maintenance costs for motorists. He maintained that improved road network will also attract investors, boost business activities, and enhance the overall quality of life for residents.


"With Ogun State’s growing status as an industrial and commercial hub, the ongoing infrastructure development will create more opportunities for businesses and entrepreneurs." The government is also focused on ensuring that these projects are completed within schedule to maximize their economic benefits". he stated. 


Engr. Akinsanya assured residents that the government remains dedicated to infrastructure renewal and modernization, with more roads set for construction and rehabilitation in the coming months. He urged citizens to support the administration’s efforts and exercise patience as work progresses across the state.


Through these strategic interventions, Ogun State is not only enhancing its road infrastructure but also laying the foundation for long-term economic growth and development, making the state more attractive for both local and foreign investors.
