OGUN BUREAUCRATIC STRUCTURE HAS ENHANCED STABILITY - PS

The bureaucratic structure of governance in Ogun State has enhanced stability in procedures and delivery of services to the public.

Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Mr. Oyejola Oyeneye made this known in his lecture titled 'Bureaucracy and Service Delivery: The Public Service Ways' at the First Annual Lecture and Prayer to usher in the new year, organised by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in Abeokuta.

Mr. Oyeneye explained that bureaucracy was a system of government characterised by hierarchy which gave access to laid down rules in the act of duty, describing public service delivery as a means of rendering values and assistance to the populace through government institutions.

The Permanent Secretary highlighted parts of the public service duties rendered by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to include empowerment, social support, rehabilitation, child development among others. He added that, the agency services fall under the Social Welfare and Well-being in the ISEYA Mantra of the present administration.

"As Social workers, you must not work in silos, bring in more innovation, conduct citizens survey and leverage more on technology," he said.

Earlier in her lecture titled 'Roles and Impact of Social Worker', the former Head of Service in the State, Alhaja Selimot Otun, expressed that the Social Work profession should be more recognised like others in the society due to the diligent services being rendered to the public.

She advised the social workers, to embrace 'Empathy' and not 'Sympathy', imbibe effective communication, exercise patience during interaction, urging them to engage more on sensitisation programmes and trainings.
