As part of efforts to encourage residents of the State, to apply for genuine Land Title Documents, the Ogun State Government has distributed Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) to some homeowners, whose properties were on a portion of Government land allocated to Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) in Pakoto, Ifo, Ogun State.
The Director- General and Special Adviser, Bureau of Lands and Survey, Arc. Segun Fowora, at Ifo, reiterated the commitment of the Governor Dapo Abiodun to the welfare of the good people of the State, saying, there was pardon with a 50 percent discount, to the beneficiaries to bring them into home ownership bracket rather than destroying their property.
Arc. Fowora, explained that it was an extension of the Property Registration Programme (PRP) project of the present Government Land Administration Reforms, to ensure more citizens of the State were given more opportunities to own lands for economic sustenance.
"For today's symbolic exercise, we have brought our office here to the community to make it easier for the people in this area to benefit from this exercise. Today is symbolic because a lot of people have been doubting whether this will not happen but here we are, giving out Certificates of Occupancy to these beneficiaries who are enjoying this amnesty with 50 percent discount," he said.
In his remarks, Acting Surveyor-General, Surv. Oladele Ewulo, congratulated the beneficiaries and advised those still in doubt to quickly key into the initiative.
Also speaking, the Director, Land Services, ESV. Adewale Adedeji appreciated the present administration for the support to go ahead with the amnesty programme, saying, the Government has overlooked the error committed by the beneficiaries.
In his goodwill message, former Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, represented by Hon. Kola Ishola, said, it was a history making programme, as the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration had fulfilled its promise to the LUTH community in Ifo through the distribution of the land documents.
On her part, the Vice Chairman, Ifo Local Government, Hon. Abibat Bolanle, appreciated the Governor for the kind gesture, while calling on the beneficiaries to enlighten others about the initiative.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Fatimoh Oluwatoyin and Mr. Ramoni Ganiyu thanked the Government for the Certificates of Occupancy as they were now real homeowners.
