The Executive Chairman of Odogbolu Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Diya, and his executive members today marked their 100 days in office, opening the gate for free medical checkups and drug prescriptions for the indigenes of the local government.
The chairman, who highlighted his lofty plans for the remainder of his tenure, affirmed that his team is fully committed to advancing the 'Iseya Mantra' plan of Prince Dapo Abiodun’s led-administration.
The event, which was held at Mobalufon Hall Ground, was well attended by all royal fathers in Odogbolu Local Government, Baales, party leaders, Councillors, and other party faithfuls who were present at the occasion.
The chairman in his speech declared that efforts are in top gear to continue the work started in the first 100days in office, which include: Renovation of Odogbolu Central Mosque, Commissioning of a brand-new borehole at Ikosa, Medical Outreach Programme & Palliative Distribution: Facilitated by the Odogbolu Community Development Council (OCDC) in collaboration with the Community Services Federation of Bermuda and Babcock University, benefiting 300 aged persons.
The Community Services & Global Vision Support Foundation Initiatives, including the Waste-to-Wealth programme, Facilitation of the Alpine Care Group’s partnership with Odogbolu Local Government for public healthcare revitalization; the 'Iwosan Tunde' Initiative, aimed at screening 5,000 residents and enrolling 2,000 residents in the Ogun State Health Insurance Scheme under the Ministry of Health among others.
The chairman emphasized that every citizen of Odogbolu now has access to quality healthcare delivery, among other key focuses of his administration.
"As I reflect on the past 100 days in office as the Executive Chairman of this council, I recall the promises we made during our campaign to improve the quality of life in our communities, address pressing issues, and build the Odogbolu Local Government of our dreams.
"Today, the council is in a strong position, one we can all be proud of. It is indeed a secure environment with the promise of a brighter future for our children and the generations to come."
In the same vein, the Dagburewe of Idowa, HRH Oba Sikiru Kayode Adefuwape, who led other monarchs from the council to the podium, appreciated the chairman’s efforts and initiatives in his keynote address.
The monarch, however, urged the chairman to strengthen implementation structures, ensuring that the healthcare initiatives extend beyond primary and secondary levels to include tertiary healthcare services, considering the economic realities of the people.
Speaking with journalists at the gathering, the Special Assistant on Youth Development and Technology Innovation, Hon. Dennis Ogunnaike, described the 'Iwosan Tunde' initiative as a response to the healthcare deficiencies observed across Odogbolu Local Government.
"When the local government chairman assumed office, he set up a team to assess all 15 wards, identifying gaps and urgent areas in need of attention. This led to the launch of several healthcare initiatives in alignment with Prince Dapo Abiodun’s Iseya Mastra plan," he said.
Hon. Ogunnaike praised the chairman’s innovative leadership style, noting that he has actively engaged with stakeholders to identify and tackle local challenges.
"To be honest, the chairman has taken a dynamic and youthful approach to governance. He has held stakeholder meetings, identified key problem areas, and is taking decisive action. In one word, his leadership is innovative," he added.
He further emphasized that the initiative aligns with Governor Dapo Abiodun’s agenda to address critical healthcare needs, providing 5,000 Non-Communicable Disease interventions and expanding health insurance coverage to indigent and underprivileged citizens of Odogbolu Local Government.
"With these milestones achieved in just 100 days, residents look forward to continued development under Hon. Babatunde Diya’s leadership".
