EGBE DEGBUYI REMO MOURNS THE PASSING OF ITS PATRON, ALAPERU OF IPERU, OBA ADELEKE IDOWU-BASIBO; PAYS CONDOLENCE VISIT TO MONARCH'S PALACE

Egbe Degbuyi Remo has mourned the passing of its esteemed Patron, His Royal Highness, Oba Adeleke Adelekan IDOWU-BASIBO (Odoru V), FIEX, FICMC, the Alaperu of Iperu Remo, who passed away on Thursday, 6th February, 2025.

 

"Oba IDOWU-BASIBO’s reign was marked by his resolute dedication to the progress, peace, and prosperity of the Iperu Akesanland.  He was a beloved leader known for his wisdom, guidance, and tireless efforts to uplift his community.  His commitment to unity and tradition earned him the respect and admiration of his people and beyond."

 

“The loss of Oba IDOWU-BASIBO leaves an irreparable void,” said Gbuyi (Surv.) Adetola OLADEINDE, General Secretary, and Gbuyi Saheed Olawale OLOYEDE, Giwa of Egbe Degbuyi Remo, in a letter of condolence and a message of tribute jointly signed by both. 

“His legacy of service and dedication will continue to inspire future generations.  He was a true symbol of leadership and grace.”

 

"Egbe Degbuyi Remo extends its deepest condolences to the royal family, the people of Iperu Remo, and His Excellency, the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo ABIODUN, CON, during this time of mourning.

We pray that the Almighty grants the soul of Oba Adeleke Adelekan IDOWU-BASIBO, a prominent Patron of Egbe Degbuyi Remo, eternal rest and a place among the ancestors. May his memory be a source of inspiration to us and many others." the statement further said.


Oba Adeleke Adelekan IDOWU-BASIBO was more than a traditional ruler; he was a symbol of love, oneness, peace, unity, and progress. His reign as the Alaperu of Iperu was fashioned by unwavering dedication to the progress, peace, and prosperity of Iperu Akesanland.


He was not only a reverred leader but also a pillar of wisdom, guidance, and strength to the people of Iperu Remo and beyond. His dedication to the progress of his people, his steadfast commitment to tradition, and his noble service will forever be remembered."


During his reign, Oba IDOWU-BASIBO fostered unity, peace, and prosperity, becoming a symbol of leadership and grace. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to have known or close to him." the group concluded in its tribute.


Meanwhile, the group has also paid a condolence visit to the palace at Iperu to commiserate with the people of Iperu Akesanland on the glorious transition of their loving king.


Gbuyi Saheed OLOYEDE, the Giwa Egbe, who was accompanied on the visit on Wednesday, 12th February,  2025, by Gbuyi Gbolahan ODUKOYA, Assistant Social Secretary; and Gbuyi Ola BADMUS, immediate past Assistant General Secretary; expressed the group's condolence to the Iperu Regency Council, led by the Lisa of Iperu Akesanland, High Chief Rotimi ODUTONA.

OLOYEDE prayed for the repose of the soul of the amiable royal father and for God's guidance and grace to elect a suitable and fit-for-purpose successor.


Responding, the Chairman of Iperu Regency Council, and Lisa of Iperu Remo, High Chief Rotimi ODUTONA, thanked the visiting team, as he acknowledged the significance of the group's condolence visit to the palace, describing the timing as as very apt and appropriate, and that the tribute further showcases Alaperu as a king that is well-loved by many, both from far and near.


Also speaking on behalf of the Iperu Regency Council, the Oluwo of Iperu Akesanland, High Chief (Barr.) Ifasola Saheed OPEODU, a friend and admirer of Egbe Degbuyi Remo, appreciated the team for the visit, and sends the council’s compliments to entire members of Egbe Degbuyi Remo.

In attendance were the Apena of Iperu, High Chief Rasaq OSHO; and the Olotu Erelu of Iperu, Erelu Aderonke IJALE.
