OLORUNDARE ENIMOLA, Lagos
Dr. Ojo Oluwatosin Ademola, a renowned Medical Practitioner, businessman and a philanthropist, has written a petition to the Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, Chairman Police Service Commission, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Attorney General of Lagos State against some land grabbers (whose names are mentioned in the petition), posing as representatives of a purported Finance Company Limited and in the company of some Police Officers forcefully gained entrance into his property once again.
The petition reported that and in the process, the invaders engaged in wanton stealing of his properties, issuing life threatening words, harassing his family members and breaching peace and harmony.
Barr. Kennedy Osunwa, of Justice Solicitors, one of the Legal counsels to Dr. Ojo Oluwatosin Ademola, made the invasion known to pressmen on Wednesday, calling on the appropriate authorities and other well-meaning Nigerians to be aware of what his client is going through, while also asking for their interventions to rescue his client from the hands of the criminal elements who claimed to be untouchable because of their connections to eminent people in government as well as the Police hierarchy.
He stressed that they boasted they could take over his land forcefully, despite all evidences tendered during investigations showing the land belonged to his client legally.
Barrister Kennedy Osunwa, said, “The property in question situated at Plot 1, Block 4, Lekki Peninsula Scheme, Eti Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State was legally acquired from Churchgate Nigeria Limited by his client Dr. Ojo Oluwatosin Ademola and has since been in his possession. Thereafter, all relevant documents were obtained including the original certificate of occupancy (C of O) registered by the Lagos State Land’s Bureau Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos State. The building approval and permit was subsequently granted by the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) respectively to commence development.
“To our utmost dismay, the people whose names are withheld and their agents unlawfully invaded the said property, destroying structures erected and carted away building materials worth over Three Hundred Million Naira, harassing and threatening to kill those at the site, thereby breaching public peace and claiming the property belonged to one Starmark Finance Company Limited without any registered title document to substantiate their claims. To our amazement, none of these people parading themselves as land owners was at any time a staff member or director of the purported defunct Starmark Finance Company Ltd according to records with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), leaving me to wonder who instigated them”. He added
The illegal invasion was thereafter reported at Maroko Police Divisional Headquarters Lekki, Lagos and a petition was also written to FCID annex, Alagbon Lagos as well as Zone 2, command Headquarters Onikan, Lagos for holistic investigation since our client has all his titled documents registered with the appropriate authorities.
After the previous invasion, letters were written by the Police Authority to Lagos State Agencies for documents verification and authentication of claims and our clients’ title was affirmed as the registered bonafide owner of the property, Barr. Osunwa said.
"At the conclusion of the investigation, the casefile was sent to the Lagos State, Director of Public prosecution (DPP) for advice where the report categorically stated that any person found in connection to the illegal invasion of our client’s property and other alleged crime be charged to court.it came as a rude shock when Police Officers from Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Abuja and police officers attached to the CP tactical squad, Lagos command has continue to harass our client and his workers thereby aiding and shielding the landgrabbers who have continued to break into our client’s property without any moral or legal justification in other to dislodge our client from his property despite the fact that there is subsisting court injunction in suit no: LD/15415LMW/2024 restraining these criminal elements from going into our client’s property.
"It will also interest you that some of the perpetrators of this heinous crime were apprehended and charged to court by the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police in Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos State, but unfortunately these unscrupulous elements have continued to mislead the police authority in order to suppress facts creating a barrier from apprehending other fleeing suspects.
"We therefore, implore all well-meaning Nigerians, the President and Commander – in – Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Executive Governor of Lagos State, the Inspector General of the Police (IGP), The Chairman Police Service Commission and The Attorney General of Lagos-state. to intervene and save our client’s life & property and ensure that justice is seen to be done even in the eyes of the common man.
