Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has reiterated his commitment to support, recognise and identify with notable indigenes for their invaluable contributions to the socio- economic development of the state.
The Governor made this known at the 80th Birthday Celebration organised in honour of Ambassador Susan Folarin, at the Saint Jude’s Anglican Church, Iberekodu, Abeokuta, acknowledging the celebrant as a woman of virtue, who has contributed to the development and growth of the State.
He eulogised the celebrant as a fountain of knowledge and wisdom from which the younger generation could drink from, urging all to replicate the legacy of Dr. Folarin and draw inspiration from her life.
The Governor represented by the Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, assured the elders that his administration would continue to see to their wellbeing, stressing that his administration has made the healthcare of the aged a focal point of its healthcare Service and development agenda.
The retired bishop of Osun Diocese, Very Rev'd James Popoola in his sermon themed ‘Responding Positively to the Mercy and Grace’, said mercy of God opens doors and break protocols, which also make man to live beyond scriptural recommended age of 70, pointing out that man could only repay the mercy of God with thanksgiving, prayers and forgiveness.
In her reaction, the celebrant gave glory to God for sparing her life to celebrate the 80th birthday and the privileged to serve mankind in all the capacity.
In attendance were the former Governor of the State, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun, former Military administrator, Col. Daniel Akintonde, Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, former Speakers, Rt. Hon. Muyiwa Oladipo and Suraju Adekunbi, the immediate past ambassador to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Sarafa Ishola, the wife of former President of Nigeria, Mrs. Bola Obasanjo, former Heads of Service as well as serving and retired Permanent Secretaries.
