OGUN TO DEAL WITH DEVELOPERS BREAKING GOVERNMENT SEAL

The Ogun State Government has promised to deal with the developers who break government seal on property, sealed by the enforcement team of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

Acting General Manager of Ogun State Building Production Management Authority, Builder (Mrs.) Titilayo Oladogbon, stated this at Yewa South Local Government, Ilaro, where various offences ranging from development without Authorisation, construction without the use of registered professional on site, no project information board and breaking of Government seal on property.

She expressed dissatisfaction on the activities on some violators who instead of regularising and applying for appeal for unsealing of the sealed properties, go back to break government seal and continue with the development.

She stressed that, the authority had no other option but to engage the task force which includes arrest order to deter the violators from proceeding with the illegal development.

"According to the Ogun State Building Production Management Regulations (OGBPMR), 2022, breaking of Government seal is a very serious offence. Violators of the regulations are liable to payment fines according to the degree of contravention,’’ she added.

Oladogbon therefore advised the public to approach the Authority with a notice of Commencement of construction 7 days before commencement of any development in the State.

She maintained that the Authority would not relent in its effort in ensuring properly supervised, safe and resilient buildings for sustainable communities with quality construction and development in line with the OGBPMR, 2022.
