OGIRS REAFFIRMS CONTINUOUS SYNERGY WITH E-THIRD PARTY INSURANCE CONSORTIUM

As part of efforts to ensure continuous ease of life and convenience for the citizenry, the Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) has promised continuous synergy with the E-Third Party Insurance Companies for efficient service delivery and optimal productivity.

This submission was brought to fore by the Executive Chairman, Ogun State Internal Revenue Service, (OGIRS), Mr. Olugbenga Olaleye, during a meeting with the representatives of E-Third Party Insurance, Brokers and Underwriters at OGIRS' Conference room,  Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, saying gone are the days where there were large percentage of quacks in the insurance industry issuing the papers without paying claims but with the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the parties for over three years, the narrative has changed positively.

He said OGIRS had created strategic systems to block all loopholes in the issuance of the documents, encouraging taxpayers to embrace the scheme as this would bring confidence to the motorists whenever the unexpected happens

Mr. Olaleye advised the companies to brainstorm and choose the new leadership that would take over as the lead insurer since they are signing another contract, saying the chosen leadership should also come up with new initiatives that would move the state forward.

"OGIRS has created a platform to chase away clandestine unregistered set of people under the tree issuing insurance papers, that is why government has brought the scheme that will be of benefit to taxpayers," he said.

In her remarks, Director, Other Taxes, Mrs. Oluyomi Dawodu further explained that it is expected of every car owner either private or commercial to obtain valid insurance documents, emphasising that OGIRS is the only agency saddled with the responsibility of issuing motor licences, Proof of Ownership Certificate (POC), among others.

She also stressed that the essence of the meeting with the companies was the renewal of another contract term with the OGIRS and for them to choose the leading insurer who would be relating with the agency in terms of official duties.

Responding, Coordinator, E- Third Party Insurance, SouthWest, Dr. Moses Akinyoola and Lead Broker, Mr. Abayomi Babalola respectively, informed that the era of misinformation about the scheme is over, advising car owners to visit any of the OGIRS' licencing offices to get their papers issued, in order to lay claims whenever the need arises
