President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commissioned the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks.
The barracks, which was commissioned on Thursday, is part of the Nigerian Army Special Projects and is equipped with modern amenities to enhance the welfare of military personnel.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, President Tinubu praised the officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces, describing them as the nation’s heroes. He expressed his administration’s commitment to supporting the troops.
He said, “You are our heroes, and I thank you for what you have been doing for this country.”
“What you are doing for Nigeria is remarkable. The only way to appreciate you is to continue to show support to the men and women in uniform,” he added.
The Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks is a state-of-the-art facility designed to address the acute shortage of accommodation for military personnel in Abuja.
The project, which was conceptualized by Major General Philip Eromosele, commenced on November 26, 2022, and was fully funded under the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.
The state-of-the-art facilities at the barracks include 16 Major General Quarters, 34 Brigadier General Quarters, 60 Major-Colonel Flats, 60 Lieutenant-Captain Flats, and 180 Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Flats. Additionally, 264 Corporal-and-Below Flats, worship centres, sports facilities, and a powerhouse are part of the barracks. The facility is secured by a perimeter fence with three entry and exit gates.
