Akarigbo Urges Unity For New State Creation

The Akarigbo and paramount ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi on Friday underscored the need for the Ijebu and Remo divisions to close ranks and form a common front to achieve a new state creation from the old Ijebu Province.

Oba Ajayi gave this counsel while speaking during the stakeholders meeting on the new state creation held at his palace, Sagamu on Friday.

The meeting had in attendance traditional rulers from both Remo and Ijebu as well as other prominent indigenes from the two divisions.

Oba Ajayi in his address said that there is need to let go of whatever might have happened in the past and chart a new course towards achieving the new state creation.

The paramount ruler said "We are all gathered here today for a common cause which is to actualize a long standing dream of a state to be created out of the old ljebu Province and hence from the present Ogun State.

"The history of ljebu and Remo is no doubt long and checkered but I have said repeatedly that we have so much in common than what separates us.

"I would like to acknowledge the contribution and the bold steps of Kabiyesi Awujale, Oba S.K. Adetona GCON in this regard. In fact, I make bold to say that we would not be where we are if not for his efforts, influence and doggedness".

The royal father also lauded the governor of the State, Dapo Abiodun, Sen. Gbenga Daniel and host of others playing leading roles towards achieving creation of the anticipated new state.

Akarigbo called for the setting up of 14-man committee comprising of seven members each from the two divisions who are to work directly with their respective paramount rulers and report back to the house within the next one month

The paramount ruler used the medium to mourn the demise of the House of Representatives member representing Remo Federal constituency at Abuja, hailing the late lawmaker for her dedication to service, particularly, her tireless efforts to also achieve the new state creation.
