REMO INDIGENES HAIL 6TH AKARIGBO GOLF TOURNAMENT FOR PROMOTING UNITY, YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

 



Indigenes of Remoland home and abroad have hailed the initiative behind the annual golf tournament to celebrate the birthday and coronation anniversary of Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, as a unique platform for promoting unity among 33 Remo towns as well as empowering youths through golfing.


According to Aare of Remoland, Chief Kola Oyefeso, the event was organised by Remo Golf Foundation at the Lafarge Cement Golf Club in Sagamu Local Government Area of the state, to honour Akarigbo on the two occasions, adding that the tournament was to bring the people together for development and to promote golf activities among the youth.


Oyefeso stated that the Akarigbo gold tournament had entered its 6th year, and had become one of the most sought-after sporting events in Remo and beyond. He enjoined the youth to develop interest in playing golf not only for healthy living but also to develop a sporting career that could lead to global recognition.


In his address, the Chairman, Organising Committee, Prince Wole Sowole, appreciated Governor Dapo Abiodun for his landmark Developmental projects across Remoland, saying the projects had improved the living condition of the people culminating to socio economic growth of the area.


The celebrant, Oba Adewale Ajayi, appreciated indigenes, organisers and well-wishers for their support towards making the day memorable, urging the youth to key into golf activities where their new talents could be discovered early. He prayed for God's blessings and protection for all indigenes in the land.


Winners emerged at the tournament and were presented with trophies in various categories. In the female category with 84 Gross, Diana Osmond emerged winner, while from the male category with 83 Gross, Gbenga Jacob emerged winner among others.


Dignitaries in attendance were, Elepe of Epe, HRH Oba Adewale Osiberu; Ewusi of Makun, HRH Oba Timothy Akinsanya; Radanuwa of Idado, Oba Musiliu Oriyomi Soile among other royal fathers, as well as state functionaries.
