The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has charged the new Alaye of Aba, Aiyepe, in Odogbolu Local Government Area of the State, Oba Michael Adekoya, to champion all efforts at enhancing peaceful co-existence in the community, to bring out more socio-economic development of the town and Ijebu land at large.

Prince Abiodun, who gave the admonition during the Installation and Presentation of staff of office to the new monarch, said the King should use his position to influence and draw credible ideas and prospects, as well as bring about developmental strides to Aba, Aiyepe and its environs.

Represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy matters, Hon. Razak Daddah, he charged the monarch to be accessible, receptive and responsive to the yearnings of his people, emphasising that he should justify the trust reposed on him by ensuring that all should be treated fairly without any affiliation whatsoever.

The Governor, while admonishing the new monarch to foster reconciliation, unity, and socio-economic growth within his territory and beyond, said “As a royal custodian of tradition, Kabiyesi must mobilise his people for development while championing peaceful coexistence with neighbouring communities”, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to working closely with royal fathers to advance the State’s ‘Building Our Future Together’ agenda.

In his remarks, Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, represented by Orimolusi of Ijebu-Igbo, Oba Lawrence Jaiyeoba congratulated the people of Aba Kingdom, Aiyepe, Ijebu and called for cooperation with the new monarch for peace and development of the land.

In his acceptance speech, Oba Michael Adekoya, appreciated the Governor for the approval of his appointment, promising to offer a responsible leadership that would strive towards bringing development to the community by using all available resources as well as the rich cultural heritage to move the town to the next level.

He called on sons and daughters of Aba, Aiyepe to be steadfast and upright in their resolve, make use of available resources in harmonising human capital development and infrastructural growth of the community.

Highlights of the ceremony were prayers for Oba Adekoya’s reign to usher in peace, prosperity, and transformative growth. Other notable guests present were, the members of Ijebu Traditional Council, Local Government Officials, and Community Leaders.
