OGUN ASSEMBLY COMMENDS BUDGET COMMISSIONER, AS OGIRS TARGETS OVER N120BN REVENUE FOR NEXT YEAR

 



Members of the Ogun State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation today commended the State Commissioner for Budget and Econmic Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan for his ingenuity and commitment towards upholding diligence in the ongoing process of the 2025 State budget proposals.



The House Committee members gave the commendation, when the Commissioner took turn to defend the budget proposal of the Ministry before the State lawmakers at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.


Defending the Ministry's budget estimates for next year, Mr. Olabimtan, presented a total budget expenditure of over ₦2.35bn, comprising ₦227m for personnel costs, while overhead expenses stood at ₦1.24 billion, just as ₦883m would go for capital expenditure.


On its part, the Ministry of Finance, represented by Alhaji Adesina Towolawi , also defended a total budget expenditure of N11bn, comprising of N2bn for capital expenditure, while N8.9bn would go for recurrent expenditure with over N17bn projected as expected revenue for next year.


In another development, the State Internal Revenue Service has proposed to generate over N120.967bn independent of other State government revenue sources next year.


The Charman of the Board, Mr. Olugbenga Olaleye, disclosed this while appearing before the members of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation led by Hon. Musefiu Lamidi during the budget defence session held at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.


He listed the revenue sources to include personal income tax/ pay as you earn, direct assessment ( businesses) , withholding taxes, stamp duty, pools betting and casino licence, development levy, road taxes, tax investigation, motor vehicle licence and other registration.


Also, the State House of Assembly led by the Clerk/ Head of Legislative Service, Mr. Sakiru Adebakin and the Assembly Service Commission defended their budget proposals before the State lawmakers
