A Nigerian woman and #ENDSARS activist, Olamide Thomas has been charged to court for allegedly raining insult on the son of the president, Seyi Tinubu on social media.
Ms Thomas was arraigned before an Abuja Court on four count-charges after she was captured on a video insulting Seyi and top officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
The video allegedly indicting the activist was taken during the protest against the use of tear gas on her and other protesters at fourth anniversary of the #EndSARS movement against police brutality in Nigeria.
The four-paged charge sheet prepared on December 18, the police said the activist violated Section 24 (2) (a) of the Cybercrimes Act, 2024.
Following the charge against Ms Thomas, there is the likelihood that she would be spending the Yuletide season in prison custody.
The presiding judge over the matter, Justice Emeka Nwite on Friday remanded the defendant in prison.
The judges are expected to embark on a holiday break until January 2025 when Court sessions would resume.
