Ilupeju Obantoko Day: Commissioner Charges Communities on Peaceful Coexistence

 



Sustainable development at the community level is virtually impossible without the peaceful coexistence of residents and their deliberate attempt to foster mutual understanding, cooperation, and active participation in communal activities.


Commissioner III, Ogun State Teaching Service Commission, Hon. Majekodunmi Olanrewaju made this known during the maiden edition of the Ilupeju Obantoko Area Community Development Committee (ACDC) Day held at Morekete Primary School, Obantoko in Odeda Local Government of the state, charging communities within the ACDC to continue living in harmony. 


Majekodunmi urged the communities to continue embarking on good developmental initiatives that would complement the Governor Dapo Abiodun's efforts at ensuring that the dividends of democracy cuts across all the nook and crannies of the State.


In his speech, the immediate past Chairman of Ilupeju Obantoko ACDC, Comrade Babatunde Ogunseye, described the event as the first of its kind and a good initiative that would continue to encourage unity and aid the development of every CDA under the Ilupeju Obantoko Development Association.


He enjoined the present executives to work towards sustainability of the event at least once every three years, urging them to continue working with members of the communities to ensure development.


Delivering his speech, the Chairman of Ilupeju Obantoko ACDC, Comrade Oloye Kehinde Oladimeji, explained that it is time to reflect on the collective achievements and to encourage the possibilities that lies ahead.


He affirmed that the ceremony and get-together were not only meant to commemorate the passing of time but also serve as a unifying force in bringing together all the stakeholders in the various communities.


While giving an account of his stewardship in the last year, Comrade Oladimeji stated that his administration had procured, energized, and commissioned the Ikija transformer, provided free summer coaching and writing materials for students, and initiated the construction of a modern health center at Tinrinmi, among other developmental projects.


Also speaking, the Zonal Rep. for Odeda, Alhaja Hanefat Sonoiki, confirmed that about 44 Community Development Associations (CDAs) were under Ilupeju Obantoko ACDC, saying that their relationships are cordial without any rancor.


She urged the present executives to continue the good work and dedication to the betterment of all and sundry.



Highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to individuals 

who have contributed positively to the development of the CDC, the decoration  of  Onitoko of Obantoko, HRM Oba Kehinde Adesanu and Divisional Police Officer, Aregbe Division, CSP Rasak Adeoye as Patrons respectively, Chief (Mrs) Titilayo Saliu Ilupeju Obantoko ACDC and Chief (Mrs) Adeoti were decorated as Matrons while the presentation of certificates to new CDAs, took place among others activities.
