The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has assured the people of the State that his administration would continue to support meaningful community development projects across the State.
The State helmsman made this known during the grand finale of the Remo Day 2024 at the Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu, Ogun State.
He added that his government remains committed to ensuring that all the citizens, especially those at the grassroots are actively involved in the development process of the state.
Governor Abiodun also said that his administration would continue to provide an enabling environment for community initiatives and self-help projects across the state, commending the people of Remo land and the state as a whole for supporting his vision.
"As a government, we remain committed to ensuring that all our citizens especially those at the grassroots are actively involved in the development process.
"We will continue to provide an enabling environment for community initiatives and self-help projects.
‘’Let me assure all the citizens of Ogun State that, the state government will continue to support meaningful community development projects proposed by our Community Development Associations", he said.
Governor Abiodun disclosed that, Remo Day celebration would continue to be a shining example of how culture and tradition could bring the people together, saying that, the Remo Day celebration would also continue to foster a sense of pride and identity for the people.
The Chairman of the occasion and Chief of Staff to the President; Rt. Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, noted that the celebration would become a remarkable platform for the sons and daughters to come together and develop Remoland, adding that he was glad with the culture and tradition of the people.
Rt. Hon Gbajabiamila while noting that, culture is very deep, said that the establishment of the Ministry of Arts and Culture and the Blue Economy by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu underscores the significance of culture as a driver of economic growth and social cohesion.
"In alignment with fostering unity in diversity, the Federal Government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated a commitment to preserving and promoting cultural heritage, the establishment of a substantive Ministry of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy as well as the efforts of the National Council for Arts and Culture underscores the significance of culture as a driver of economic growth and social cohesion.
"This initiative provides platforms for local artisans, encourage cultural exchanges and ensure that Nigeria's rich cultural heritage is celebrated globally
"Furthermore, the Federal Government's national policy on culture and tourism focuses on harnessing the creative industry to boost tourism, create jobs and promote inter-ethnic dialogue through cultural diplomacy and the global export of Nigeria's music, art and literature, the nation continues to gain international recognition whilst enriching its economic landscape", he said.
In his remarks, the Special guest of honor and the Speaker, Federal House of Representatives; Rt. Hon Tajudeen Abass noted that, the celebration of Remoland 2024 underscores the importance of the root of the people, adding that Remoland would continue to exemplify the richness of the country's cultural tapestry, thereby contributing to the unity and strength of the country.
Rt. Hon Abass said that the establishment of the Ministry of Art, Culture and Creative Economy has provided the platform to preserve the heritage and empower local artisans and creating economic opportunities, adding that it is through collective efforts and openness that the people could appreciate their diversity.
Responding, the Akarigbo and Paramount ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi noted that, the day serves as celebration of the rich cultural heritage of the land, adding that the day, ‘’is not just a festival, but a call to cherish the rich history of Remo people’’.
The Akarigbo of Remoland, expressed his gratitude to Governor Dapo Abiodun for ensuring that the maiden edition of the Remo day was actualised and successful, adding that the people would rededicate themselves in preserving the rich history, culture and tradition of land.
The highlight of the event was the donation of the sum of Twenty Million Naira by the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Rt. Hon Femi Gbajabiamila and the sum of Twenty-five Million Naira by the Speaker, Federal House of Representatives; Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abass to the development of Remoland.
