As part of its achievements and sustainability efforts at contributing to the progress of the community and welfare of the people, Anowoneyo Area Community Development Committee of Irete-Ijebu has gave out scholarship awards to indigent students of the community.
The scholarship awards which was in continuation of year 2023 scholarship award saw ten (10) new students benefitted from the kind gesture making total of award beneficiaries 17 in number.
According to the AACDC Chairman, Otunba Saheed Dosumu who implored the awardees to be very focus and concentrate more to their studies, said that the scholarship awards was organized to encourage not only the beneficiaries but, all indigenes of the town that are students across all academic levels throughout the country.
The Chairman pointed out that three (3) out of the previous year awards beneficiaries who have shown interest in nursing and others that have also secured admission into various higher institution of learning in the country would be effectively monitored and supported.
He added that all beneficiaries of WAEC scholarship last year who were ten (10) in number did fantastically well at the examination, pointing that arrangement has been put in place to get JAMB forms for them and some others that just finished their SSCE in flying colors.
Otunba Dosumu while congratulating the beneficiaries of this year scholarship award programme, posited that the scholarship awards committee of AACDC would not relent at fishing out young talents and best brains with assurance that they would be judiciously monitored and guided beyond secondary school, adding that those with starling moral and academic performance would be supported up to university level.
He appreciated the monarch of the town, Onirete of Irete-Ijebu, Oba (Dr) Yesufu Awokoya, kutimehin 1, who according to him, God has blessed the town with for his selfless and commitment and ever ready to give everything for the repositioning of the land and the good of the people.
Otunba further appreciated the town's Education Endowment Committee (EEC) headed by Dr. Salau Gbabere for their commitment and dedication to educational development agenda of AACDC, pointing that the scholarship awards was not for citizens of Irete-Ijebu alone, but also captured pulpils from Omu-Ijebu, and the entire citizens of Ijebuland in general.
While appreciating donors who have been given financial support towards the economic growth and infrastructural development of Irete-Ijebu, Otunba Dosumu posited that three (3) students who are currently on AACDC scholarship to nursing schools would be engaged immediately after the completion of the ongoing hospital under construction in the town.
On behalf of Oba (Dr) Yesufu-Awokoya, AACDC and good people of the town, Otunba Dosumu thanked a notable daughter of the town, Rev. Dr. Oyebola Adejoke Adams for her contributions and developmental stride most especially her commitment to the course of building schools in Irete-Ijebu while congratulating her for the honor done on her recently by Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, Oyo State.
