The Chairman, Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State, Princess Surah Animashaun, has said that her administration would continue to uphold the rights of the citizens to enjoy good governance.
Princess Animashaun stated this during a visitation of Dangote Truck accident victims at General Hospital, Epe, she said that the people of Epe and all residents of the council, irrespective of their ethnic, religious or political affiliations, were entitled to good governance.
The Chairman, who paid hospital bills of the victims at the hospital, also visited the deceased families who lost their lives in the tragic incident, assured that her government was committed to upholding the fundamental human rights of all Epe indigenes.
Princess Animashaun expressed deep condolences to the families of the victims, saying, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in this tragic incident.
“We also extend our best wishes for the swift recovery of those injured and affected by this unfortunate event.”
She said that a directive had been given to the security agencies to disperse those selling on the roadside and walkway of the roads, so as to avert the future occurrence, saying that her administration was committed to upholding the fundamental rights and freedom of each and every one to enjoy good governance, irrespective of our political, religious, or ethnic affiliation.
“We would like to assure the good people of Epe that under our watch, no citizen, resident, or passerby in the council would be allowed to be exposed to any form of abuse, molestation or violation of their human rights, in particular markert women and men, artisans school children, young people and persons with disabilities,” Animashaun said.
The Chairman expressed willingness to collaborate with the security agencies and the media to ensure that the human rights of Epe indigenes are upheld at all levels, and nobody would be subjected to unnecessary molestation or deprived from his/her rights.
