The attention of the Bureau of Local Government Pensions has been drawn to a notice circulating on social media, which claims to have emanated from “Ogun State Pension Board”. This is to inform our esteemed retirees, and their next-of-kin that the notice issued by an unidentified individual was not authorized by the Ogun State government.
Furthermore, there is no agency of government by the appellation “Ogun State Pension Board”.
The Permanent Secretary of the Bureau, Engr.Olufisan Osiyale, while responding to the fake publication, emphasized that the Bureau of Local Government Pensions has official channels through which pensioners or the next–of-kin of deceased retirees could process pension claims. He added that these channels would not be opened unguardedly nor be allowed to be hijacked by faceless/anonymous individuals or entities.
He enjoined pensioners, especially the next-of-kin of retirees, to disregard the story as it is nothing but a baseless publication fabricated to mislead and cause mischief, adding that if there should be a need for such development, the Bureau of Local Government Pensions would legitimately, through formal channels, inform those concerned accordingly.
In this regard, the Permanent Secretary strongly advised pensioners and their next-of-kin not to disclose or share their information/documents with unauthorized persons or groups.
He therefore called on anyone who needs further clarifications to contact the Bureau’s Office at the Parastatals Building, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
