PRINCE DAPO ABIODUN'S POLICY ON EDUCATION YIELDING RESULTS-COMMISSIONER

 


The outstanding performances of learners, teachers and schools in Ogun State at Local, National and International competitions have been ascribed to a resourceful the policy of Prince Dapo Abiodun's administration on education.


State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, made this affirmation in Abeokuta, during the presentation of another set of learners, who made the state proud at the 64th National Conference of Science Teachers Association of Nigeria in Abuja.


Prof. Arigbabu expressed joy over the students’ performances for emerging first in Mathematics, Physics, Biology and Computer Science, and many more at the competition, noting that remarkable achievements recorded in public and private schools were as a result of the revitalisation agenda of the present administration in the education sector.


He assured that the state government would continue to celebrate excellence, as demonstrated by Governor Dapo Abiodun during the annual laureate event, where teachers, learners and schools were honoured with houses and cash awards to motivate them.


The Commissioner, who applauded the doggedness of students in the state, urged them to continue to partake in competitions, and develop spirit of sportsmanship in schools, appreciating the Local Organising Committee of the competition for their unrelenting efforts in preparing the learners towards achieving the best for their locality.


Earlier, Director of Education, Department of Science and Technology, Mrs. Abosede Edun, while presenting the awards to the Commissioner, said the competition was in primary, junior and senior secondary schools’ categories, disclosing that Ogun State won seven golds, two silvers and one bronze, to become Second Overall Best, after Lagos in the 36 states of the Federation.


Earlier, Chairman, STAN, Ogun State Chapter, Dr. Yomi Onanuga, stated that provision of necessary resources and logistics by the Ministry led to the remarkable performance of the students during the competition.
