As a means of encouragement and motivation for excellence, Prince Dapo Abiodun's administration in Ogun State has once again rewarded teachers, school administrators and students from the state with cash awards for emerging the best in local, national and international competitions.

The state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, represented by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu while Congratulating the awardees at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta said the gesture was in fulfillment of the governor’s promise to reward teachers who distinguished themselves, during the commemoration of 2024 World Teachers' Day.

The awards were Best Teacher Public and Private Schools, Best School Administrators (Primary, Junior and Senior Secondary Schools), Best School in Nigeria (Public and Private), Best Teachers (Public and Private), as well as 2024 Overall Cambridge Dedicated Teacher

Governor Abiodun added that four Overall Best Graduating Students of Olabisi Onabanjo University received cash award of N2.5Million each, while 23 other Best Graduating Students also got N500,000.00 each.

The governor charged the awardees to sustain their performance and achievements, for more exploits in the education sector, urging others to emulate them and radiate positivity wherever they found themselves.

"You cannot afford to rest on your oars, I want you to see these achievements as encouragement for you to do more", he said.

The state’s helmsman reiterated government’s commitment and investment towards ensuring that the sector was on a higher pedestal through capacity building programmes, digital literacy, Progressive Science Initiative and Progressive Mathematics Initiative, among others, expressing confidence that the initiatives were yielding desirable results in both teachers and learners.

Responding on behalf of other awardees, a Chemistry educator from Ambassador College, Ota, Mr. Nnaemeka Nwagbo and one of the Overall Best Graduating Students from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Asisat Adegoke, appreciated Governor Abiodun for the gesture and dedication towards providing qualitative and accessible education to the citizenry, promising not to relent in making the state proud.
