JUST IN: Kano Governor Yusuf Breaks Silence Amid Reports of Fight With Kwankwaso

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has broken his silence on alleged tensions with his political benefactor, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

The clarification comes amid reports of a rift between Governor Yusuf and Kwankwaso, with claims that the governor is under pressure to distance himself from Kwankwaso’s influence in governing the state.

In a midnight interview with journalists at Government House on Wednesday night, Yusuf denied the rumours.

The governor condemned the ‘Abba Tsaya Da Kafarka’ (Stand on Your Own Feet, Abba) movement, urging him to assert independence from Kwankwaso. Yusuf affirmed that his loyalty and trust lie in Kwankwaso.

“I have no problem with my leader (Kwankwaso). Abba Tsaya da Kafarka is a slap on my face as governor of Kano; it means I should betray him; what did he block for me to warrant that? This is the greatest insult to me, I’m flabbergasted.”

The Kano governor added: “All unfounded claims being peddled by newspapers against my person are false. I am 100% loyal to our Kwankwasiyya ideology; which focuses on education and human capital development as its core principles. These are evident in our years of service.”

Yusuf dismissed claims of ignoring Kwankwaso’s calls and snubbing meetings. He attributed the rumours to unfounded claims, reiterating his commitment to the Kwankwasiyya ideology.

The governor highlighted his focus on education and human capital development, core principles of the Kwankwasiyya ideology.

“I could have challenged the journalist who reported this, but I refrained out of my deep respect for the profession. I want to work alongside journalists,” he said.
