In a significant move to strengthen grassroots governance, the Executive Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, today, Monday, November 18, 2024, officially swore in 20 Local Government Chairmen along with their Vice Chairmen. The ceremony, which took place at the Cultural Center in Abeokuta, was attended by key political leaders, dignitaries, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders from across the state.

The newly sworn-in Local Government Chairmen include:

In his address, Governor Abiodun reaffirmed his administration's commitment to empowering local governments as the cornerstone of democratic governance and sustainable development. He urged the newly inaugurated leaders to prioritize the welfare of their communities, promote transparency, and work collaboratively with the state government to achieve shared goals.

"Today's ceremony is not just a celebration of your appointment as leaders but a call to service. Your duty is to foster development in your local governments, promote unity, and enhance the living standards of the people," the Governor stated.

The swearing-in ceremony was a momentous occasion that underscored the state’s dedication to democracy and inclusive leadership. It also highlighted the importance of collaboration between the state government and local councils in addressing the needs of Ogun State citizens.

The newly inaugurated Chairmen and their Vice Chairmen pledged their commitment to the principles of good governance, vowing to support the administration’s vision for a prosperous and progressive Ogun State.
