A second term councillor, Hon. Jamiu Ogundairo has said that he and his colleagues will work to ensure a better and progressive Abeokuta South Local Government.
Ogundairo disclosed this after his emergence as the house leader of the 9th legislative house of Abeokuta South Local Government, Ogun State.
Ogundairo was announced the house leader after an open ballot election held on Tuesday at the plenary during their first sitting.
Other principal officers were, the Deputy Leader of the House, Hon. Azeez Sanusi, the Majority Leader, Hon. Seyi Sodiya and the Chief whip, Hon. Olasupo.
The House leader sought for the cooperation of other Councillors in taking the local to a greater height.
He said that he is committed towards ensuring a better, progressive, advanced and developed Abeokuta South Local Government.
Ogundairo also assured the Council Chairman, Hon. Afeez Balogun that he and his other honourable members will work closely with him in achieving an amiable local government.
He said "It is with great honour and gratitude to Almighty God to witness another landmark achievement in the history of this Local Government. I am glad for the privileged to serve as the Leader of Abeokuta South Local Government Legislative Council, and also a part of the progressive team in collaboration with other Honourable Councillors to consolidate and propagate the achievements of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun con, the Executive Governor of Ogun State.
"Also, it is pertinent to acknowledge and congratulate our great party, All Progressives Congress (APC) on the landslide victory at the just concluded Local Government elections. I therefore, beckon on us all to join hands to seize this rare privilege to achieve economic and social development in our great "Premier" Local Government in the State.
"While savouring our victory, I want to appeal to other Honourable members to fully cooperate with me so that we can run a responsive and responsible administration where our wards are adequately represented. We should therefore strive to work together to meet the yearning and aspirations of our people at the grassroots.
"Permit me to reiterate that the statutory functions of the Legislative council which includes but not limited to passing of byelaws, appropriation of bills and other oversight functions will be seamless, if we collaborate with the Executive Arm of the Local Government to achieve the desired goals. "In unity we stand and divided we fall".
"I passonately appeal to other Honourable members to cooperate with me and offer genuine advice, sponsors good and relevant bills that will address the needs of our people at the grassroots.

The Council Chairman , Hon. Afeez Balogun in his remarks charged the councillors take the business of legislation seriously as the bylaws passed by the House will form the bedrock of policies for the governance of the Local Government.
