Commercial Transporters in Ogun State have commended the Prince Dapo Abiodun led Administration's initiative for monitoring sales of pumps at petrol filling stations in the State.
Recall that the Ogun State Government initiated a task force team to monitor transportation fares and un-ethical Practices in filling stations across the State. The team which comprised Staff of Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Industry Trade and Investment, The Trade Union Congress (TUC), The Directorate of Security Services (DSS), The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), The Nigeria Union of Road Transport Workers NURTW and Ogun State Parks and Management (OGSPAM).
While sharing their experiences on the exercise, members of the task force recounted occasions where at different filling stations, words of encouragement were offered by transporters in support of the exercise.
In their separate responses to the Press, Mr. Lawal Azeez Opeyemi, Mr. Stanley Yenogoa and Mr. Moroof Jaiyeola expressed their joy while appreciating His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun on behalf of other transporters for his empathy towards the plight of transporters and citizens of the State at large.
In addition, the transporters expressed satisfaction with the ongoing exercise saying it would ensure strict adherence thereby making citizens get commensurate value of money they expend on petroleum.
"We appreciate our Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun for his good service to humanity. The petrol marketers are really cheating us for manipulating their fuel pumps, they sell fuel worth of two thousand Naira to us at three thousand Naira. This simple act is nothing but stealing! We want the Government to please continue with this monitoring as fuel is a major string that connects all human activities and economic development". They said.
Meanwhile, the team have discovered unwholesome operations of some filling stations in Abeokuta, Obafemi Owode, Remo and Ijebu areas of the State and also reported the confrontational experience with the Managing Director of As Sallam Petroleum Resources located on Ibafo Road in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the State to appropriate authority.
Similarly, the team experienced another obstruction on Wednesday at exactly 2:49 pm at Fatgbems Filling Station, Onijanganjangan , where an armed team from Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMPDRA) led by Mr. Victor Ajise who claimed to be the Director of Operations said the state should stop monitoring operations of any Filling Stations, saying such exercise belong to them outrightly.
