Major General Olufemi Oluyede officially took over as the Acting Chief of Army Staff (Ag COAS) at the Army Headquarters in Abuja today, October 1, 2024.
The appointment follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive made on October 30, during the medical leave of the substantive Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.
Presiding over the ceremony, Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa reiterated the importance of the Armed Forces’ role in safeguarding national security and urged commanders to remain vigilant in their duties.
On his part, Oluyede expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by President Tinubu and reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the Constitution of Nigeria and serving the nation diligently .
He called for unity and support from the Armed Forces and the Nigerian public in addressing the ongoing security challenges.
Until his appointment, Major General Olufemi Oluyede served as the 56th Commander of the Infantry Corps of the Nigerian Army in Jaji, Kaduna.
