Palliatives: Epe LG Chairman Gifts N20M To 200 Vulnerables




 


The Chairman, Epe Local Government Council Area of Lagos State, Ms. Surah Animashaun, has distributed the sum of N10,000 each to 200 members of her local government council who are vulnerables.


Animashaun, who was represented by her vice, Hon. Sikiru Owolomoshe, who also doubled as Supervisor for Agriculture, said the gesture was part of her contribution to the palliative programme to the people of the council, to cushion the biting effects of fuel subsidy removal.


She distributed the gifts to beneficiaries at the Local Government Chamber, Ita-Marun, Epe, Lagos State.


According to her, the gesture was beyond the palliative measure as she sincerely desired to improve the living conditions of her people to cope with the present economic reality.


She said, “In the first instance, I have mapped out self-employment programmes for youths, women, farmers, and artisans, cutting across vocations in all the eight (8) wards of the council area of the local government.


“In the area of actual financial palliative, a sum of N10,000 is now being given out each, to 200 vulnerable residents of the council, to ameliorate the suffering being faced by the residents of the council.


“This effort is my way of mitigating the consequences of the fuel subsidy removal by alleviating the hardship faced by them, as I’m committed to fostering a sustainable future for the residents of council area in the state.”


The Chairman of the Council assured the entire people of the local government of her commitment to their well-being, noting that she has priortised human empowerment in her developmental projects.


Speaking, Hon. Toyin Gbadamosi, All Progressives Congress (APC), Chairman of Epe LG, appreciated the Chairman’s uncommon gesture, saying that it was unusual to have such a passionate leader, and this a clear testimony of her passion and commitment to the welfare of the people. 


“Indeed, the cash gifts will surely excite the recipients, and it’s obvious on their faces as they smiled home, Princess Animashaun is a leader with a difference, and I urge those who have not yet received to be patient to their turn.”


On behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Atanda Olanrewaju and Mrs. Yetunde Komolafe, appreciated the council Chief for the kind gesture, promising to utilise the fund judiciously, urging the state and federal lawmakers in the local government area to emulate the gesture, especially in putting smiles to the face of the needy and less privileged people.
