OGSG Hammers On Issuance of Multiple Tickets On Road

 


The Prince Dapo Abiodun Led Administration has repeatedly warned Union members at Mowe Ibafo axis of Ogun State to desist from every act of multiple levies on commercial Mini - Bus  drivers popularly known as Korope.


This warnings were made following the aggrieved drivers peaceful protest on Tuesday 24th of September, and awareness gathering amid fear of distortion  in resolutions  made, on Monday, 30th of September, over multiple transport levies, vehicles vandalisation, collection of Marker Fee amongst others.


The Honourable Commissioner For Transportation Engr Dairo Olugbenga at a media chat recently, expressed the State Government displeasure at the illegal collections imposed on mini - bus drivers at Mowe Axis, which to them is an add up to the hardship experienced presently in the country.


" The Ogun State Government is aware of the concerns of the aggrieved drivers, and not happy with such hardship add up on the drivers. We have intervened immediately at each notifications , infact, we disguised along that road to confirm all allegations brought before us against the said Union and to some which we found out to be facts, we duly and as a matter of urgency, attended to. We had meetings with the Parties involved and came up with resolutions after so much deliberations. 


We have agreed that a single ticket of five hundred naira per day as being collected by the established motor garages be sustained, immediate stoppage of marking and Marker Fee collection from Ogun State Vehicles, Piecing a single ticket into multiples can aid fraudulent act and must be stopped immediately, and that vandalisation of vehicles is prohibited". He hammered.


Dairo while  warning the  Union Members  against inflicting more hardship on the drivers, with  advise to the Union Leaders to always monitor the activities of their members also, reminded the aggrieved drivers  that they are not greater than Union under which they operate and must conform to the rules and regulations governing the Union.


Also, Dairo disclosed that the government has set up a task force  to  carryout periodic checks on Motor  Parks and various transport activities across the State.
