64th Independence: Epe LG Chief Calls For Resolute, Resilience

The Chairman, Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State, Ms. Surah Animashaun has admonished Nigerians and Epe indigenes to reflect more on what unites the country and the local government council rather than what divides it.

Animashaun stated this at the 64th Independence Day goodwill messages to the people of the local government council, held at the Secretariat, Ita-Marun, in Epe.

She said "Our journey of 64 years has not been without its ups and downs but we are here to celebrate because we are resolute in facing our challenges and forging ahead with renewed hope to reach the promise land.

"As we move on to the next phase of our nationhood, we must remain united in shunning anti-social, ethno-religious conflicts, and other divisive schemes but channel our gifts, talents, ability and energy towards building Nigeria of our dreams, where we would see ourselves as one.

“Let us focus on what unites us more as a people,” advocated the need for Nigerians to live as an indivisible entity where peace, justice, equity and fairness abound.

“As we celebrate and intercede for our nation today and always, I advocate the need for us to reflect more on what unites us as a people rather than what divides us. The oneness of Nigeria remains more advantageous despite the challenges we are facing as a nation.

"Indeed, we are known for our intelligence, resilience, resourcefulness, confidence and hard work. Let us today take pride in celebrating our dignity, pride and unity in diversity as we confidently looking forward to Renewing our Hope for a better Nigeria."

She also advised Nigerians and Epe residents to remain supportive either as individual or collectively towards nation-building to move the ccountry and local government forward.

According to her, we need to propagate unity, irrespective of our political, religious and ethnic divides, and to rally round President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who they have so far shown commitment and resilience to revamp the nation and the state.

She urged the governor Sanwo-Olu to remain resolute in ensuring residents enjoyed unprecedented transformation, especially in the area of security of lives and property and the state economy.
