SOLARCITYGAS POWERS NEWLY COMMISSIONED SAGAMU-IPERU-ODE ROAD IN OGUN STATE

In alignment with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 9 focusing on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, the successful development and commissioning of the Sagamu-Iperu-Ode Road in Ogun State marks a significant milestone in regional infrastructure enhancement.

This project exemplifies the pivotal role that businesses play in advancing community transformation. SolarCity Nigeria, a leading entity in alternative energy solutions, has been instrumental in this initiative, underscoring its commitment to sustainable development.

On the occasion of his re-election for a second term, Ogun State Executive Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun inaugurated the newly completed Sagamu-Iperu-Ode Road. This project, realized in partnership with SolarCityGas Nigeria, features the installation of solar-powered street lighting along a stretch of road, which connects key areas within the state. This enhancement is anticipated to significantly bolster the social and economic development of Ogun State by improving road visibility and safety, reducing crime rates, and generating job and business opportunities within the region.

The installation of these advanced solar LED lights aligns with the administration's objective to foster economic growth through infrastructure development. The benefits include increased safety for road users and a substantial reduction in crime rates, alongside creating new employment opportunities.

Olasubomi Okeowo, CEO of SolarCityGas Nigeria, expressed gratitude to the Ogun State administration and the Ministry of Works for their collaboration in implementing this innovative solar lighting solution. He emphasized the dual advantages of this sustainable approach: reducing reliance on fossil fuels and minimizing environmental impact, while providing a reliable energy source that enhances safety and security, particularly at night for the people at large.

As Nigeria transitions towards alternative and renewable energy sources, this project stands as a testament to the economic advantages of renewable energy within the country’s power infrastructure. The successful installation of solar-powered LED street lights serves as a model for future projects, highlighting the tangible benefits of integrating renewable energy into national infrastructure.

Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun commended the project’s ingenuity and its contribution to economic transformation. He noted the road's significance in improving transportation efficiency, stating, “Before the construction of this road, travel from Lagos to Ibadan through Remo  took at least seven hours. Now, the journey from Lagos to Ijebu-Ode to Babcock University  to Sagamu can be completed in less than 50minutes

Oba Basibo, the paramount ruler of Iperuland, also acknowledged the transformative impact of the project, praising the administration’s achievements over the past five years and expressing appreciation for the successful completion of this critical infrastructure.

SolarCityGas Nigeria remains a frontrunner in providing alternative energy solutions for a variety of infrastructure projects across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. The company's dedication to sustainable energy solutions continues to drive community development and contribute to a more prosperous Ogun State.
