REKINDLE PEOPLE’S FAITH IN JUDICIARY, ABIODUN CHARGES




 


Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has charged the Judiciary to continue to live above reproach and rekindle the faith of the public in the dispensation of justice.


Governor Abiodun, who made this known at the Special Mosque Service to usher in the 2024/2025 Legal Year, described the Judiciary as last hope of the common man, maintaining that the Year should be an opportunity for them to render greater service to the Bench and humanity.    


The Governor, represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, reiterated that his administration was committed to creating a just, free and egalitarian society, ensure continuous development of the state and an improved quality of life for all residents, regardless of gender, geographical location, economic status, political accreditation or religious belief.


He noted that the commencement of the Legal Year would enable government to reaffirm individual and collective commitment to the pursuit of justice and improve administration of justice, expressing confidence in the Judiciary's unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law in the state, to ensure justice, as well as safeguard the rights of every citizen.


"I'm confident that our Law Officers will continue to perform their duties with the highest level of professionalism and dedication, in alignment with our administration's vision of a fair, just and equitable society, free from anarchy and tyranny", he said.


The governor reiterated the importance of justice in the society, saying it served as a reminder that law was the foundation of democracy which everyone needs to uphold and defend, adding that balance of democracy could be attained through justice.  


He urged members of the bar and bench, as well as the entire judiciary staff to reaffirm their individual and collective commitment in the pursuit of justice for continued improvements in the state.


The Governor called on all state Judges to reciprocate his administration's support with even better service delivery, emphasising their importance as the cornerstone that safeguards all rights, freedom and stability of the society.     


In his lecture titled, “After Hardship Comes Ease From The Lens of the Holy Quran”, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, (REC), Osun State, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, said difficulty, hardship and uneasiness were integral to life but joy comes after, only if we believe, rely on Allah and obey His commandments, urging Muslim Faithful to avoid things that would deflect them from ‘Aljanna’ and be good Muslims.


He admonished Muslim Lawyers to believe in Allah, who can guarantee their protection, saying, “no one in life is free from affliction, but ensure that all act of spirituality must be in accordance to Allah's directive”.
