PDP elders apologise to Wike amid rift with Governor Fubara

The Elders Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has publicly apologised to Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, over the ongoing disagreement between him and his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

During an event organised by the Rivers State Ijaw Peoples Congress in Port Harcourt, Boma Iyaye, the Executive Director of Finance at the Niger Delta Development Commission, led the apology on behalf of the Ijaw people. Iyaye expressed regret over Fubara’s actions, which he described as disrespectful towards Wike.

“We are apologising to you for what our son is doing to you. We are sorry. It is not in our nature to repay good with evil. You have done well for us, and we will continue to say thank you,” Iyaye stated.

He further urged Wike not to distance himself from the Ijaw people due to Fubara’s actions, highlighting Wike’s instrumental role in helping the Ijaw people achieve the governorship position in Rivers State for the first time.

Do not, because of this bad behaviour of our son, run away from us. You made it possible for us to become the governor of Rivers State,” he added.

Ferdinard Anabraba, Chairman of the Elders Forum, echoed similar sentiments, criticising Fubara’s government and reaffirming the Ijaw people’s loyalty to Wike.

“The aberration in the Rivers State administration is not a reflection of the Ijaw people’s opinion. You remain the most celebrated Ijaw politician with national recognition,” Anabraba said.
