Some members of All Progressives Congress , APC In Imeko-Afon Local Government on Monday marched peacefully to the party Secretariat in Iyana mortuary to protest against the imposition of a chairmanship candidate, Hon. Theophilus Aremu who is a loyalist of a House of Representatives member, Gboyega Nasiru Isiaka.
They alleged that Hon. Olorode emerged through kangaroo primary election organized by GNI.
They also claimed that the Reps member imposed Olorode on them as the party’s chairmanship candidate for the upcoming local government election.
The residents carried placards with various inscriptions, calling on Governor Dapo Abiodun to intervene in matter for peace to rein in Imeko Afon Local Government.
They said that they want Vice chairman, 3 supervisors, 5 Councillors, 3 Consultants and 2 Special Advisers.
One of the Protesters, Hon. Surakat Saheed who spoke with our correspondent said that Gboyega Nasiru Isiaka has secured a lot of positions in the past and still want to secure the chairmanship position.
According to him, GNI has already secured the following positions for his loyalists which are State House of Assembly, Hon Commissioner, Education Secretary, Chairman Education Authority, Chief Monitoring Officer and Two Monitoring Officers, adding the APC proper, Imeko-Afon Local Government were left out.
Mrs Rebecca Babalola who spoke on behalf of the protesters, alleged that the party did not hold a primary election in Imeko-Afon, saying that GNI ordered for kangaroo primary.
She added that Hon. Olorode is never their preferred candidate for the chairmanship position.
