Obaseki denies shutting down Government House days after Edo governorship election

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has refuted claims circulating about the purported shutdown of the Government House and his alleged decision to proceed on terminal leave ahead of the conclusion of his administration on November 12, 2024.

The governor reassured the public that his government remains fully operational and dedicated to its mandate.

In a statement released on Saturday by the Special Adviser to the governor on Media Projects, Mr Crusoe Osagie, Obaseki dismissed the rumours as false and called on mischief makers to cease spreading misinformation designed to undermine his administration.

The statement emphasized that Governor Obaseki was actively engaged in his duties, citing his recent activities, including the groundbreaking ceremony at the Jesuit University in Ewatto, Esan South East Local Government Area, on Wednesday, and his leadership of the Executive Council (EXCO) meeting on Thursday, which had the participation of Special Advisers and Commissioners.

“Against the false insinuations in the report, the Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, was at Ewatto, Esan South East Local Government Area, for the groundbreaking ceremony at the Jesuit University on Wednesday.

“On Thursday, the Governor presided over the Executive Council meeting,” the statement read.

Governor Obaseki urged the public to disregard the fabrications and assured the people of Edo State that his government remains committed to their welfare and the state’s development.
