Nigeria’s minister of interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has ordered an investigation into the alleged claim by Idris Okuneyr (Bobrisky) that he never slept in the correctional facility after his conviction.
A statement signed by the minister’s aide, Babatunde Alao, said an unconditional and comprehensive investigation into the case of bribery and corruption in the Nigerian Correctional Service would be carried out.
The minister, while condemning the alleged behaviour by prison officials said, no form of unprofessionalism or undiscipline would be tolerated.
He said, “The Ministry will not tolerate any compromise on its core values of integrity, transparency, and accountability.
“We will leave no stone unturned in rooting out corruption and ensuring that those found culpable face the full wrath of the law,” he said.
Tunji-Ojo has directed a special investigative team headed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani, to commence its probe into the matter.
The team is also expected to submit a comprehensive report on their findings.
