YOUR WELL-BEING REMAINS SACROSANCT, GOV. ABIODUN TELLS OGUN WORKERS



The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has once again reiterated the continued commitment of his administration at ensuring that the welfare and well being of its workforce remain sacrosanct.


The Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun renewed the commitment at the Launch of the Ogun State Formal Sector Health Insurance Scheme for Public Servants, as part of activities marking the year 2024 Public Service Day celebration held at the Obas Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.


According to him, the launch is aimed at taking a significant step forward, as it is a vital initiative that underscores government's commitment and resolve that every citizen of the State, and not the Public Servants alone has access to quality health care. 


Represented by his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Governor Abiodun said Ogun State is blessed with the best Public Service, thus, the workers' resilience, commitment and dedication must be celebrated.


He announced a 50 percent reduction in the monthly premium of one thousand naira to five hundred naira that is expected to be paid by each of the workers and enjoined all concerned to key into the scheme for their overall wellbeing.


While commending the Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya for his tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to the well being and wellness of the Public Servants including the Labour Leaders and the entire workforce, the  Governor appreciated the workers for their collaboration and continued support towards the effective implementation of the I.S.E.Y.A. mantra that has transformed lives and brought unprecedented progress to the State, with a promise that the government will keep reciprocating via improved welfare of all.


In his welcome address, the Number One Civil Servant, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, said good health makes other parts of life meaningful, thus, this administration places great premium priority on the total wellbeing of the entire workforce and all the citizens.


The Head of Service announced that the Governor has approved that the "Know Your Health Status: A Diagnostic Programme" that was intentionally incorporated into the yearly celebration be organised henceforth on quarterly basis for the workers to know their health status and get necessary attention when needed.


"The Governor has approved that the "Know Your Health Status" is now on quarterly basis. This goes to show genuine concern of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun to the well being of the workers for a safe work environment. I seize this opportunity to appreciate the Governor for his resolute commitment to the wellbeing and wellness of the Civil Servants", the HoS said.


In their goodwill messages, Labour Leaders in the State, the Chairmen, Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Akeem Lasisi, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Hameed Ademola-Benco and the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (JNC), Comrade Isa Olude appreciated the government for the initiative as another milestone was recorded in the Gateway State where workers are enjoying the benevolence of government.


They appealed to the agency mobilising for funds to allow targeted audience have access to all the levels of health care, by living up to statutory duties and responsibilities, with a pledge to remain committed to the aspirations of the founding fathers of the State in order to continue to be the best among comity of States.


On their parts, the Director General/CEO, National Health Insurance Agency (NHIA), Dr. Kelechi Ohia,  represented by the Ogun State Coordinator, Otunba Adefeso Adegboyega and the Chairman, Forum of CEOs of Social Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Simeon Onyenechi, represented by the CEO, Ondo State Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Abiodun Oyeneyin congratulated the government and people of Ogun State for the great milestone to provide quality healthcare in the State and promised to continue to provide right leadership, collaboration and support to OGSHIA in all its activities.
