Tinubu’s govt to create additional 2 million jobs

The Bola Tinubu-led administration has unveiled a new plan targeted at generating at least two million jobs.

The Ministry of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, outlined four key components driving its ambitious plan for massive job creation in the creative industry.

This target is being supported through strategic partnerships with the private sector, facilitated by several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) designed to propel job creation efforts.

Addressing journalists in Abuja, the minister emphasized that the 2 million job goal will be achieved through a combination of strategic investments, partnerships, and fiscal incentives.

She highlighted the ministry’s focus on leveraging Nigeria’s commitment under the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement (AfCFTA) and broader economic expansion to enhance job opportunities.

“The two million job opportunities will foster increased investment in the creative industry’s value chain across Africa and tap into the $3.4 billion African market share,” Musawa stated.

The minister further explained that the job creation strategy is built on critical pillars of development, including infrastructure enhancement, investments in human capital, formalization of the informal sector, exploitation of economic pivots, and effective monetization of cultural assets.

Through these initiatives, the ministry aims to significantly boost the creative industry’s contribution to Nigeria’s economy and position it as a leading force in Africa’s economic landscape.
