REMAIN COMMITTED TO GOOD SERVICE DELIVERY, HoS URGES WORKERS


 


Civil/Public Servants in Ogun State have been called upon to continue to rededicate themselves to duty by being proactive, effective, efficient and committed to good service delivery.


The Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, made the  call when he led the workers, including Permanent Secretaries and Labour Leaders, in a Thanksgiving Jumat Service to kick-start the 5-day year 2024 Public Service Day celebrations held at the State Secretariat Mosque, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.


According to him, the State Civil/Public Service must continue to be the best among the comity of States in terms of pedigree, integrity and track records, as these can only be maintained if the workers remain committed to the ideals of the founding fathers.


He appreciated the present administration under Prince Dapo Abiodun for according due recognition to the welfare of the workers through the germane initiatives put in place to cushion the effect of the increase in pump price, thereby making life meaningful and bearable for the workers and assured that the tempo of capacity building will not go down as government 

remains committed to their overall development and  wellbeing.


While acknowledging the various contributions of the management and staff of all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government which has brought peace and tranquility to the Service and State at large, the Head of Service urged the workers to remain steadfast as democracy and good governance are based on good service delivery.


"I want to seize this opportunity to thank God on your behalf for witnessing another Public Service Day celebrations, as it is not by power. It is a day set aside to honour the honourable works of the Civil/Public Servants. As the engine room of government, prayers are required to succeed, that's why we're starting the week-long activities with prayers. Continue to pray", the HoS charged.


On his part, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Cabinet and Special Services, Mr. Olanrewaju Saka, who received the Head of Service and the workers into the mosque on behalf of the Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, congratulated the workers for the celebration and said it gladdened his heart that the celebration began with them at the worship centre and prayed for more to be witnessed in good health and sound minds.


In a sermon, the Chief Imam of the Secretariat, Alhaji Mohammed Buhari-Inakoju, charged the workers to always discharge their statutory duties with all sense of responsibility, as the workforce will determine what the society will look like, while all forms of indiscipline be kept at bay.


He  urged them to handle schedules very well and cautioned against giving wrong counsels to those in positions of authority as these counsels can make or mar the Service and the society at large.


Earlier in a welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance who doubles as the Chairman of the Mosque's Planning Committee, Alhaji Muftau Towolawi appreciated the Head of Service for leading the workers to the Jumat and prayed for the success of the celebrations.
